Connection Wires¶
The first step to assemble an RC car platform is to ensure that wire connections are established between the components. This document provides the steps required to connect different components on the APP4MC Racecar.
VESC¶
The VESC needs to connected to the BLDC motor, servo motor, Beaglebone AI and LiPo battery. LiPo Battery manufactured by Team Corally is a 11V 3-cell battery with a 50C rating which comes with a XT-90 connector. This allows the VESC to be directly connected to the LiPo battery.
To connect the VESC to Beaglebone AI over UART interface, an 8 pin JST socket needs to be crimped using a 24-26 AWG wire. Once end of the wire needs to be crimped with the female crimp connector while the other end of the wire must me crimped with a male connector. Once the crimping is complete at both ends, the female crimp connected must be inserted in the 8-pin JST pin socket. The JST pin socket can then be fixed on the 8-pin socket layout provided on VESC. The other side of the wire can be directly connected on the pin headers available on Beaglebone AI.
VESC and servo motor can be connected using a 24-26 AWG wire with Futaba connector at one end and a female connector at the other. The female connector can be integrated with a 3-pin JST socket that can be mounted on the Servo connecter available on VESC.
Finally to connect the VESC with BLDC motor and VESC, the default 4 mm bullet connector needs to be replaced with a 3.5 mm bullet connector. # Add pictures
